The purest New Zealand Merino meets simple Danish design. Roots & Wings organic merino is a collection of luxurious easy-care garments for babies and young children. All made from the finest quality organic merino by skilled New Zealand artisans. Fully traceable and certified.
It all started when Founder, Stine Smith left Denmark to settle in New Zealand. A life where love, diaper changes and nature took over from a business career in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and London.
After working for years in international business, Stine wanted to use all her experience to start her own company. She moved to New Zealand, became a mom and fell in love with merino wool. This inspired her to design garments for babies and young children made of organic merino wool. The recipe was simple, combine Scandinavian design with the purity of New Zealand.
Sourcing the finest organic New Zealand merino wool by visiting different farms in New Zealand, Roots & Wings applied the classic Danish design to create beautifully crafted merino base layers for babies, toddlers and young children. Merino promotes sleep and growth in babies and keeps older kids warm and dry. It gives children roots to grow healthily and wings to fly safely.
Roots & Wings believe there isn't a single fabric anywhere in the world that gives all the benefits of high quality merino; soft and silky on skin, yet strong and durable, odour resistant and easy to wash.
ORIGINS OF MERINO WOOL
New Zealand merino has proven whitest, strongest & purest in the world. Roots & Wings merino gets tested against the highest standards of welfare and environmental criteria, use none of the cruel mulesing or chemical dipping, has no genetic modifications or use of synthetic pesticides or herbicides.
Nature not only influences their design aesthetics but also their overall brand ethos on many levels. They travel to meet the people who farm the sheep; even meeting the sheep. They also personally meet the people that knit their fabrics and sew the garments.
CERTIFIED ORGANIC, SAFE DYING & FINISHING - NO CHEMICALS
GOTS certified and approved by IMO, Roots & Wings organic wool is processed separately to non-organic wool to keep integrity with no exposure to chemicals.
At every step in their process they select the most ethical and natural option possible with the best certifications to support it. Their goal is to create an organic merino garment that is not only pure and natural for babies, but also has the least negative impact on the world.
Certified organic, formaldehyde free, further softened by natural mountain water and minerals (other companies rely on chemicals to do this) and then knitted and sewn by local merino-experts.
