Tentsile - London, UK
Tentsile invented Tree Tents so that you, your family and friends can experience the magic and majesty of being in the forest in comfort - suspended above the forest floor! Tentsile love trees, everything they do relates back to saving them and inspiring others to love trees too.
Tentsile love trees, everything they do is about saving trees and inspiring others to love trees too. Their Tree Tents allow people to hang out in the forest in complete comfort. Their ideal is for everyone to spend down time hanging out in trees...then they couldn't be chopped down!
In 2010, inspired by the idea that trees could be best saved by having people live in them, treehouse architect and founder of Tentsile, Alex Shirley-Smith, strung up a prototype of a collapsible treehouse in his living room. The prototypes scaled up in size until a working design was finalised. Tentsile then began developing a whole range of Tree Tents, introducing their Flagship design, “Stingray”. They now have a full range of Tree Tents available, designed to suit every adventure.
Tentsile honour the tree, they enjoy their company, they respect their wisdom and they are humbled by their size and talent. Indeed, the very idea of Tentsile was born out of savouring the tree, living within them, walking among them, playing inside them, and, of course, learning from them - learning what they offer, learning how they themselves help protect us and the world around them.
Tentsile are committed to conserving trees and helping replant deforested regions around the globe. For every tent purchased they make a donation to plant three trees with their partners: Arbor Day Foundation, Eden Projects and WeForest. So far Tentsile have supported the planting of around 430,000 trees and saved over 50 hectares of primary growth forests in projects located across Madagascar, Zambia and Oregon. Follow their #BecomeOneOfTheMillion campaign and keep up with their progress as they work with each of these organisations to plant 1 Million trees over the next 5 years.
All the time, Tentsile tries to walk a moral and ethical line, making decisions that aim to both educate our audience to the importance of trees and forests to our personal health and that of the planet as a whole.
Tentsile are explorers, pioneers, inventors, environmentalists. But most of all, they love hanging out in the forest and feeling surrounded by the beauty and majesty of trees.
