Sleepy Wilson - Kent, UK
Sleepy Wilson is a new ethical sleepwear company making beautifully designed silk pyjamas for women and children that marry style and sustainability. Made from the highest grade 19mm silk, a renewable, biodegradable source that is also naturally temperature regulating, breathable, hypo allergenic and antibacterial, their pyjamas help to promote a better night’s sleep and are made with complete supply chain transparency and sustainable manufacturing processes.
Paula and Tom Wilson are the husband and wife team behind Sleepy Wilson which is all about the transformative power of sleep and knowing that we are at our best when we are rested and revitalised. Years of stressful jobs, moving houses (and countries twice) and having two children left them constantly fantasising about sleeping deeply and restfully. When their young son developed eczema and started over-heating at night in synthetic high street PJs, they decided to put their background in fashion product development and love of all things sleep-related to good use to create a range of their own to help families in a similar situation.
Their belief in investment over fast fashion combined with fabrics that perform for their intended purpose - use of natural fibres that don’t harm the environment and that can be produced ethically and sustainably - is what underpins Sleepy Wilson.
The earthly caterpillar inspires the range – searching for food, filling its tummy and settling to rest before cocooning its entire body and emerging again as a beautiful butterfly with much of the collection featuring intricate caterpillars weaved into the designs.
From the outset Paula and Tom Wilson wanted a collection of investment pieces that last with everyone involved in their manufacturing earning a fair wage whilst ensuring minimised environmental impact during the production process.
They visit and audit their overseas factories and are fully aware of the compliance regulations for ethical, social and technical transparency. Their mill, factory and printers are audited and certificated. Sleepy Wilson are part of the Fashion Revolution campaign, highlighting all of their suppliers and manufacturers.
Conscious of over-production and material waste, Sleepy Wilson make in small runs with off-cuts made into products such as eye masks, silk padded hangers and pillowcases, used for gifting or to help raise money for charity.
