Rūkė represents not only unique design but also sustainability. Founders, Neringa Rūkė and Linas Gudaitis-Rūkas, are a husband and wife team living in the village of Lithuania. Neringa studied clothing design and Lina is an IT specialist. Both have a great deal of passion for creativity, especially for knitted items.
Earlier in history, knitting was a privilege for men. Kings did not allow the wearing of knitted garments with people punished or paying excessive taxes. In 1589 William Li creating a knitting machine that quickly spread to France. With the mechanization of machines the knitting industry began to develop rapidly, with handmade even more appreciated. Today, the sweater is part of the must-have wardrobe.
Neringa & Linas families have a long-standing tradition of knitting, with the beauty of knitting and craftsmanship being a strong part of the Lithuanian heritage. Neringa graduated from the College of Design in Vlnys with her passion and focus on designing contemporary and cozy sweaters.
Rūkė product designs are inspired by nature. They are thoroughly crafted by Neringa and created using simple and easy-to-read leeches with a contemporary high level design.
