Wolven Threads eco-friendly range of swim, surf and athletic wear is inspired by nature and the need to protect our planet for generations to come. Made with OEKO-Tex certified Recycled P.E.T fabric, a fabric that is made from recycled plastic bottles and free from harmful and toxic chemicals.
Wolven Threads is an eco-friendly swim, surf and athletic line. Their fabric patterns are inspired by sacred geometry found in nature. From beautiful cacti to magnificent forests, mother nature grows spectacular intoxicating patterns. The vibrant colors of Wolven Threads garments are inspired by the colors of Indian art, celebration and the roots of yoga. Each fabric pattern is created in house by founder Kiran Jade and co-founder Will Ryan.
More than just a beautifully designed range of swim, surf and athletic wear, Wolven Threads is also a forward thinking, innovative company that takes sustainability and protecting our planet seriously with a mentality to give back.
Fashion is the #1 polluting industry behind big oil. As far as Kiran is concerned, there is absolutely no excuse to not be a sustainable brand. There is so much technology out there being developed to clean up all aspects of the garment manufacturing process, ranging from the development of sustainable fabrics like recycled P.E.T, (made from recycled plastic bottles), and natural fibers like bamboo and hemp, to the creation of less harmful and toxic dyes, and solar powered factories. Kiran believes it is her generation’s responsibility to strive to reverse the damage that’s been done to earth, to protect and heal our planet so that it is habitable for generations to come.
Wolven Threads is inspired by Kiran's Eastern heritage, being half Indian and half Pakistani, she takes her inspiration from the beautiful geometric patterns found in Hindu mandalas and Islamic architecture along with the colors found in Indian textiles. Kiran started working on Wolven Threads fabric patterns and cut patterns while in college at Art Center. During this time she was also in Yoga teacher training and wanted to find a way to merge all her favorite things – art, yoga, fashion, and sustainability.
Wolven Threads sustainability practices are rooted in a deep appreciation for our earth. Their team is made up of artists, vegans, and environmental protection activists. They believe in always making the sustainable and mindful choice when it comes to what you put in and on your body. Wolven Thread believe that beautiful fashion should not come at the expense of our planet.
Wolven Thread garments are made with OEKO-TEX certified Recycled P.E.T fabric (RPET), a fabric made from recycled plastic water bottles. The fabric is created by breaking down existing plastic that is currently clogging up our landfills and polluting our oceans. This certification ensures that their material is free of harmful and toxic chemicals.
An estimated 14 billion pounds of garbage is dumped into the ocean each year, 80 percent of which is a form of plastic that is killing off marine life and polluting what was once a healthy and thriving eco system. RPET creates a second life for plastics, helping to keep plastic out of our planet’s delicate eco systems.
Wolven Thread use carbon-neutral wood-pulp fibers sustainably harvested in Austria, woven & printed with natural dyes in Brazil and
cut and sewn in Los Angeles. Modal is a sustainable cellulose fiber derived from beechwood pulp that’s twice as soft as conventional cotton. Modal fibers are produced in an environmentally responsible way from the pulp through to the fiber. Modal is naturally soft on the skin and exceptionally ecological.
The way that beech trees grow is something truly special. They multiply by "rejuvenation" which means that the trees propagate by themselves. No artificial irrigation or planting is required. Thus beechwood forests are a completely natural and sustainable source of raw material. Beechwood from forests which apply prevailing forestry legislation and sustainable methods is used exclusively.
The environmental footprint of Modal is a positive one – it’s carbon-neutral, requires less land per tonne than cotton fibres and has a water consumption level that’s ten to twenty times less than that of cotton.
5% of Wolven Thread profits are donated to the sacred practice of yoga into incarcerated settings, teaching yoga to at-risk youth. With yoga being a meaningful tool for positive growth in her own life, Kiran wanted to share the gift of yoga to help empower kids and teens.
Yoga and mindfulness are incredible tools for healing and transforming, providing a physical and sometimes spiritual outlet. The practice of yoga helps to quiet the mind, leading to better focus, less anxiety, and more self confidence. With the kids and teens Wolven Threads work with being victims of domestic abuse, human sex trafficking, involvement in gangs and with histories of substance abuse. Yoga is an amazing tool to help them cope with difficult emotions and challenging situations.
Wolven Threads fabric have been created for athletic performance of all needs. Loved by surfers, kayakers and climbers alike, Wolven Threads garments are mositure-wicking, antimicrobial, odor resistant and quick-drying.
Wolven Threads garments are all transitional pieces, perfect for a beach yoga session to brunch with friends. Their yoga tops double as the perfect crop top, their leggings look great styled with a knit sweater and their one-piece swimsuits wear beautifully as bodysuits when paired with a favorite pair of high-waisted jeans
