Living A Sustainable Lifestyle With An Active Social Life

Despite the world starting to come up with ways to be more sustainable like paper straws there is still a lot that needs to be done. At festivals, parties and events a lot of plastic and single-use products are used for ease. This can sometimes affect how much you may want to socialise if you're going to places that aren’t very eco-friendly or with people who may not care about it as much. Here are a few ways you can still be the life of the party and live your happy sustainable life.

TAKE THINGS WITH YOU

If you are going out to a get-together or out to a beach which has places that may offer things like plastic cutlery or single use items, then don’t be worried about being prepared. You can buy small camping packs of cutlery which has everything you need in it and you can even get biodegradable plates for having barbecues on the beach or if you are hosting your own party. Paper cups and straws, while better than plastic, sometimes can still be very wasteful, so you could take your own metal or glass straw to use out and about as well as a flask for hot drinks. Places like Starbucks and other cafes will fill your own cup up and charge you the same.

MAKE ECO-FRIENDLY FRIENDS

One of the best things you can do if you really care about sustainable living and want to be more and more sustainable in your own life is to find people who are similar to you. If you are able to make friends through your mutual passion for saving the planet you can find events and parties that may be focused on being sustainable, and go to workshops that give tips and ideas on being more sustainable in your own home as well. It will also be great to bond over these things and find new hobbies and things to do together as you both like the same things like maybe growing your own food or making your own laundry detergent

SPREAD YOUR MESSAGE

Not everyone is really clued up on sustainable living and why it is important. By spreading your message in a conversational and non lecturing way you may inspire others to make some changes themselves in their own lives. People don’t always realise or acknowledge how much waste they make until someone highlights it. Always try to speak positively and in an influential way as you may make someone feel bad about themselves and they are less likely to engage in the conversation and make any changes.

Living a sustainable life can be difficult sometimes and people may make small sacrifices to do things they love or spend time with those they love but it doesn’t mean they are any less making a difference. Not everyone can be 100% sustainable but we can all be a little bit more sustainable in life and add new things and changes into our world to be friendlier to the environment.
